Snow, snow go away...

Ok, I take back what I said about it snowing before. It snowed the very next day, not massive amounts, just enough to instill the fear of winter in a city full of knob cagers in me. (cagers=car drivers)

It's cold...

I finnaly got around to uploading some stuff on my rpg blog... there's a link to it over there on the left if you're curious.

I've been slowly readjusting to the whole retail job thing. It's still as lame as I remember. At least I have my leather couches back to flop on when I get home. They've been in the garage since I had to sell the truck.

It's pretty cold out here and it's been snowing fairly regularly now. None of it's stuck around long, I think I had to clean off the car once. Not enough to scare me into putting the winter tires on yet. I'm quite fearful of how bad the already horrid drivers will become once there's snow on the ground. I fear them enough as it is, I don't need them sliding sideways down a hill at me. I love snow more than a lot of ppl I know, but I just can't stand seing it before Halloween. I also can't stand seeing Christmas decorations up before Halloween. D*mn you, City of Moose Jaw, d*mn you!! *fears blogger censorship*

Karate INTERNationals

Last Friday I managed to attend at least what I thought was the Karate Nationals in Saskatoon. Saskatoon's only a 2.5 hr drive from Moose Jaw, so I thought it'd be worth the gas to catch some wikid karate action and maybe see a few ppl from my old dojo. *misses* I managed to get a bit lost (big surprise there) but with my dad's old "Always leave yourself enough time" mantra I got there right when they were suposed to start. After 30 mins of finding exactly where I wanted to sit in the horrid wooden bleachers, they actually did start... Much to my surprise (and an answer to my question of "Why don't I see a single halifax JKA jacket?") I was attending the INTERNational Karate chamionships. Oh. Perhapps the national were a few days beforehand or something. Oops.

I tried valiantly to take pictures, but the lighting in the stadium just didn't work with my camera. All I got was this blurry picture of Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama and a .mov of the TaiKo group that performed. TaiKo's Japanese drumming and it was a really neet show. I'm glad i know what it's formally called now so I can find some music. I can't remember the group's name though.

I got to see some kata, bounkai, and the Men's world championship match for kumite. Sugoi!! I was expecting more theatrics I supose in the sparing, but it was all punches and only one fake-out kick. It took about 10 minutes for the match to end, they kept running out of time and restarting.
It was neet to see the judges and try to learn what the flag signs meant on my own. I should have grabed a program but they always end up sitting around gathering dust so i didn't bother.
They had a few different competitions I'd never heard of: Enbu, Fuku-Go, and Ko-Go. Enbu is a coreographed fight between two team mates. It was very interesting to watch, like making up your own kata and bounkai almost.
Here is a site I found with more information about Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama and Enbu, Fuku-Go, and Ko-Go: http://www.karate.pl/encyclopedia/compendium/
And here is the offical website for the Championships: http://www.karatecanada.com/tkc/

Ok so it's not so bad...

After much playing and twiddling with the html and stuff, i supose this blog stuff isn't SO bad... *grumbles*
Ok to appease ppl and say i'm actually using this for something i'll post some pics from my cross-canada trip/move...

I had to go to Ontario to find an Ann street... There's a Halifax street in Regina I'll get a pic of sometime. I don't know why I like street names so much.

Aglaia wasn't too hard to travel with. She cried for about the first hour then mostly just curled up next to me. The worst part was probably traveling with the litterbox and that stuff kept falling into it. EEEEEW!

Truck stops were great places to...well... stop. This was my first one in New Brunswick. Sleeping wasn't too hard except it was cold and truckers tend to keep the engines running a lot. There were always trucks comming and going, but it never woke me up. Only the cold and my seat belt digging into my back woke me. Quebec has these neat little tourist stops with running water and real bathrooms too. I only ever stopped at one once for lunch since I went from New Brunswick to Ontario in one day.

These are carpet mushrooms. This is one reason I moved. These ones were actually in Fraser's appartment, but I had them in mine as well. They're actually about 2-3" long, you can't tell in the pic. They grew while he'd been gone a few days. Mine only ever got about an inch wide over night. Again, EEEEEEW!!!! I have pics of my appartment in Van, I'll post later.

Saskatchewan license plates say "The Land of the Living Sky" for a reason. This is a common sunset out here. You can litteraly see for miles. You can see about 40kms away on a good day. The thunderstorms are just amazing. I've seen the Aurora Borealis three times now, dunno how to take pics of it tho. I think it involves the tripod and me reading my intsruction maunal.

And this is where I live now. That's the UHaul I drove well over 7000 kms in. I've sold it now, nothing kills vehicles like Nova Scotia rust.
More pics soon...ish....

First of many pitiful entries... *sigh*

Due to much pushing by a few ppl who will remain nameless and the subsequent dying of my immortal soul, I have created a blog. Now to join the seething masses and revel in the thought of ppl reading the strange entries of complete nonsense I'm compelled to type here.
I make no promises of content, other than I might loose this blog if I swear.. I'm not sure. Who ever reads those "Terms of Use" thingies anyway? Bah... I also make no promises on updates. I dunno what I'll post.. maybe drawings, if I start doing that again... maybe updates on my DnD character, cause all my friends are geeks too who might actually care about that... Just kidding!! Miss you all!!!! ...maybe pics of boring things I've done in Saskatchewan.... Maybe a reason why I'm here, if I ever figure that out....HA!
Anywho... umm.. enjoy?
